The conference “Routine maintenance for road sustainability” will be held on October 30 and hereby we invite you to join the conference on-line

State Limited Liability Company “Latvian State Roads” (LSR) on October 30, in Cēsis will organise the conference “Routine maintenance for road sustainability”. A conference dedicated to road routine maintenance issues will be held in Latvia for the first time, and experts from Latvia, as well as Estonia, Finland and Lithuania will take part in it.

Hereby we invite all interested parties to join the conference on-line on Wednesday, October 30; the conference broadcast in English will be available on the LSR website here, as well as on the LSR Facebook account HERE.

Conference sessions starting from 11.00 will contain the presentations of LSR specialists – Verners Akimovs, Member of the Board, Juris Derevjanko, Director of Road Management and Maintenance Division, Jānis Melnalksnis, Deputy Director of Road Management and Maintenance Division and Gundars Kains, Director of Traffic Organisation Division. The experience of neighbouring countries in routine maintenance will be presented by Jarmo Vooglaine, Head of Road Maintenance and Traffic Management Unit,  Development Department of the Estonian Transport Administration and Modestas Lukošiunas, Head of Infrastructure Maintenance Department of State Joint Stock Company “Via Lietuva”. Road winter maintenance in Finland will be presented by Jarkko Pirinen, Road Maintenance Expert from the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency. Jānis Rozenbergs, Chairman of Cēsis Region Council will talk about the challenges and experience of maintaining the municipal road network, while the impact of climate change on the road infrastructure will be analysed by Viktors Haritonovs, Dr. sc. ing., Leading Researcher of the Department of Roads and Bridges of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Riga Technical University.

At the end of the conference at 14.50–16.00 a discussion of experts “Road maintenance in winter: the dilemma of wishes and opportunities” will be held, which will be chaired by Mārtiņš Lazdovskis, Chairman of the Board of “Latvian State Roads”, who will be joined by all three experts from abroad, as well as Jānis Rozenbergs, Chairman of Cēsis Region Council, Verners Akimovs from LSR and Safe Driving School instructor Artūrs Virbulis. The discussion will be held in English, with simultaneous translation in Latvian.
